01 / GETTING STARTEDTAKE YOUR TIME — THERE'S NO RUSH

THE FIRST FEW MINUTES

Set up with confidence.

Keep your device and this guide nearby. A little attention now helps protect your assets later.

01

Start with a trusted device

Unbox your Trezor somewhere you can focus. Look over the device and included accessories; if anything seems tampered with or unexpected, pause and contact official Trezor support before continuing. Use a computer or phone you trust, keep its operating system and browser up to date, and choose a private place where nobody can see your screen or backup.

02

Go directly to the official start page

Enter trezor.io/start yourself in your browser’s address bar. Check the spelling and domain carefully before downloading anything. Avoid sponsored search results, unsolicited messages, QR codes from strangers, and links shared in social media replies. A convincing look is not proof that a website is genuine. Bookmark the verified page for next time.

03

Connect, install, and verify

Connect your device using the supplied or compatible cable, then follow the official on-screen instructions to install Trezor Suite or the recommended setup software. Download only from the official Trezor site. If the device offers a firmware update, read the prompts and confirm directly on the hardware device. The device screen is a trusted place to verify important actions; do not approve something you did not initiate.

04

Create your wallet on the device

Choose the option to create a new wallet if this is your first setup. Follow the software instructions and confirm prompts using the device itself. Set a PIN if offered, choosing one that is difficult for others to guess and not reused elsewhere. Your PIN protects access to the device; it is not a substitute for securely keeping your recovery backup. Never let another person choose or enter these secrets for you.

05

Protect your recovery backup

Your device may show a recovery backup—sometimes called a recovery seed—one word at a time. Carefully write it down in the exact order using the method recommended by the official setup flow. Keep the backup offline, private, and away from cameras, cloud storage, email, and messaging apps. Anyone who gets these words may be able to take control of your wallet. Trezor support will never need you to reveal them.

YOUR SECURITY, YOUR RULES

Three things to
keep close.

Self-custody means you control access—and take care of the keys that make it possible.

A /

Never share your recovery words

Not with support, a friend, a website, or a person claiming to help. Keep them offline. Anyone asking for your words is not helping you recover safely.

B /

Verify every address

When receiving funds, compare the address shown in your software with the address displayed on your Trezor screen. Trust the device display, and check the full address.

C /

Pause when something feels off

Urgency is a common trick. Stop before approving unexpected prompts, installing remote-access software, or following instructions from an unsolicited message.
